Destination Sales Training I is an interactive, hands on training with focused on sales practices geared towards convention destination as a product. Destination Sales Training II is an advanced interactive workshop with focus on analyzing and developing personal sales and negotiation skills, as well as psychology behind communications in the sales process.
Representatives of 3 convention bureaux (Convention Bureau of Poland, Gdańsk Convention Bureau and Warsaw Convention Bureau) spend 3 days in Gdańsk together with Ellen Colingsworth and Rob Davidson, DMAI experts, to discuss how to successfully sell their destinations.
Ellen Colingsworth is on the of the Board of Directors for Surgeon's Lodge, the commercial company of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, and a Director on the Board of the Byre Theatre, St Andrews. She is a consultant for the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre and provides sales training in Europe for members of DMAI (Destination Marketing Association International). As Association Sales Manager for Edinburgh Convention Bureau, Ellen was responsible for securing the association meetings for Edinburgh for the past 12 years. She developed the Edinburgh Ambassador Programme into an award-winning and highly successful programme. Ambassadors are eminent professionals across a range of academic and commercial fields, who work with the ECB to find and bid for international and national conferences for their associations.
Rob Davidson is a Senior Lecturer in Business Travel and Tourism at the University of Westminster in London. He spent five years as Education and Training Manager with VisitBritain in London. His main areas of expertise are conference and business travel, and over the last ten years he has written widely on these themes. Rob also runs his own consultancy business, and has carried out research for a number of conference organizations in the UK and overseas. He is regularly invited to speak at international conferences on the theme of trends in business tourism. At EIBTM in Barcelona each year, he launches his annual report on current and future developments in the conference and incentive industry worldwide. In February 2005, he was nominated Meetings and Incentive Personality of the Year 2005, at the Meetings & Incentive Travel Awards ceremony in London, in the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Anne. In 2006, he was nominated as one of Conference & Incentive Travel magazine's "Power 50"- the 50 most influential people in the UK conference industry.
DMAI Training together with another very important meeting industry course – Summer School provided by European Cities Marketing, give people Destination Pro certificate, which guarantee professional and comprehensive service. After this year Destination Training in Gdańsk there are 4 people among Polish convention bureaux staff with Destination Pro certificate.
